Recently, I received my new batch of card blanks, with my own design on the back. Above are the first two blanks drawn on. I like the surface. It's nice and smooth, takes pencil well and even a very light wash, if I'm careful...and it doesn't bubble up and ruin at the tiniest spot of water, like my last cards did!

Lots of exciting projects are coming into the Spirited Portraits studio. I have a large canvas drawn up, of a rearing winged unicorn in the corner, that I can't wait to get started on. I'm currently finishing another large canvas of Star Wars figures. I have been approached to produce two, possibly three book covers and I've also been invited to work on a 50th Anniversary Avengers set of sketch cards. Not only that, I have some portraits and private commissions to finish, as well as Christmas card designs and more sketch cards for eBay.  Looks like I'll be kept busy until Christmas then. No rest for the wicked! :o)

It's been a busy two weeks for me since the schools started back. I've been attacking my art projects with a vengence and thoroughly enjoying the variety of the many commissions I'm working on. I have already completed some X-files portraits, some illios for a magazine on Agatha Christie and a portrait of the 8th Doctor. I'm currently working on a large Star Wars canvas, a large Unicorn, also on canvas and a book cover. The above canvas portrait of Christopher Eccleston was completed during the summer break. There are also further projects waiting in the wings. Never a dull moment in my study!

Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes. This is another artist's return card from the 2011 Cult Stuff set Sherlock Holmes and Victorian Crime.
