Welcome to all the new followers to this Blog. :)

It's funny what life throws at you sometimes.
Nearly 7 weeks ago, I was rather literally knocked off my feet. It was my own fault really, because I'd been rather desperate for a 'break' for some time.
You should be careful what you wish for.
Still buzzing from a successful 10K Race For Life run the day before, I'd just prepared dinner for the family when I decided to run out to the back garden and have a last tackle with my hubby, who was playing ball with my daughter. I succeeded in getting the football off said hubby, ran after it, slipped in the grass, twisted as I fell and heard and felt an ominous crack, just above my left ankle. I managed to break both bones in my leg. Just running for a ball. Ouch!

I then spent a week in hospital, recovering from an operation to pin my leg back together, and getting over the effects of morphine, codeine and a general anaesthetic. Something I don't wish to repeat. I was sent home with crutches, once I passed the dreaded 'stairs' test with the physiotherapists, and was looked after by my wonderful family, without whom I don't know how we would have coped.

I have never been rendered so fragile and immobile in my life, so it was something of a shock. Happily, I'm well on the mend now, wiser after the event and hoping to get back to fitness as soon as I can, but with a bit more caution in future. I've learnt a lot about myself, and the strength of my family during the experience. I hope to keep all that in mind as we return to normality, and don't let myself get so overworked, and rundown that I allow something like that to happen again.
